The international success of our timing team on the RAK Halfmarathon

A new world record was set on the highest accredited IAAF event of the Middle East in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE on the 18th of february 2011. Several elite athletes toed the line on the 5th anniversary race this year.

The circumstances were excellent for the runners at the start Both the weather conditions and the course met perfectly to a good racing, and of course the elite took advantage of this.

The powerful start proved that the actual world records were in danger.

The former half marathon world champion Mary Keitany 29, took the lead from the start, and left no chance to her rivals, won the women's category with the time of 1:05:50 which is a new world record.

The situation was almost the same at the men's race, though the attempt to break the world record failed because of the last etap of the course, the ethiopian Deriba Merga 28, took the lead from the start and won the race in a balanced and staid way with the time of 59:25, and also took the 25.000$ prize.

 

              

It was especially cheering that a hungarian athlete performed the race. Anikó Kálovics finished 10th place on this prestigious event with the time of 1:13:45.

The official electronic timer of this event was the Premier Timing team from the UAE co-operation with ChampionChip Hungary Ltd and the Turkish Depar Timing team just like last year.

 

                     

Split timing systems were installed on 5,10,15,and 20km, and also on 10 miles. Our wide services included live internet result service, SMS result service, the competitors received their time immediately to their telephones.

The announcer of the event could broadcast the race with an iPod, which let him to move in the finish area.

Thanks to the continuous diploma printing at the race venue according to the bib numbers, the runners could get their diploma with their official time on it. The standard of the event was raised by the operation of the Mylaps ChampionChip X5 GPS trackers.
