At this year's SOF in Hyéres, The MYLAPS GPS Tracking system was usedat all of the medal races. Many races were already tracked with the MYLAPS GPS tracker. However, the SOF was the first event where a new 3D representation was used.

A 3D GeoRacing is a development from Trimaran,one of the partners of MYLAPS specialized in computer animated graphics.The 3D GeoRacing uses a data stream from the MYLAPS GPS Tracking System, which was especially developed to drive the live 3D animation.

Thousands of people already enjoyed the 2D and 3D tracking of the SOF medal races.

MYLAPS plan on using the GeoRacing system at several other sailing events this year.The next step in the development will be focused on reducing the number of people required at MYLAPS and Trimaran to generate the 3D.By doing so, they want to make the 3D Geobox technology affordable for a larger number of events.
